There are so many trainwrecks-in-waiting this cycle that I can't help but to start watching once again, after missing the last two seasons. Plus, I'm kind of interested in seeing how Amber Riley and Leah Remini do. Plus, there is the small hope that Elizabeth Berkley will forget she is on TV and start busting out her "Showgirls" moves.
Dancing
With The Stars 2013: Valerie Harper, Leah Remini, Elizabeth Berkley, Snooki
(By Emily Yahr, Washington Post, 04 September 2013)
Reality
stars, actors looking to make a comeback, one inspirational feel-good story –
yes, it’s the cast of the upcoming season of “Dancing
With the Stars.” The big story of
the year is actress Valerie Harper, who was diagnosed earlier this year with
terminal cancer, but revealed Wednesday on “Good Morning America’s” casting
announcement that doctors cleared her to dance in the competition. “The brain scans you get every two months are
looking better and better and better,” said Harper, adding that her doctors are
“delighted” she’s moving in the right direction. Other big names include recent
Scientology-denouncing actress Leah Remini, who looked exhausted appearing via
satellite from ABC’s Los Angeles bureau; Elizabeth Berkley, of “Saved by the
Bell” and “Showgirls” fame; reality star Jack Osbourne, whose sister, Kelly,
previously danced on the show; and, the “Jersey Shore” reign continues with
Snooki joining the cast. Plus, a handful of Disney family stars, such as
“Pretty Little Liars” actor Brant Daugherty (Noel Kahn) and former “High School
Musical” singer/dancer Corbin Bleu.
Meanwhile,
the biggest surprise? Children’s TV host Bill Nye the Science Guy, whose show
had the catchiest theme song of all time.
Dancing is “all physics, it’s all the study of motion,” he explained to
the “GMA” hosts, about why he might have an advantage in the competition. Here’s the entire cast, along with their
professional dance partners; Season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars” debuts Sept.
23.
